NIKI’s Flight Academy

The NIKI Flight Academy is NIKI Luftfahrt GmbH’s training organisation. It is headquartered at Vienna International Airport.

Its mission is to support airlines and pilots as they train cockpit personnel to the highest professional standards.

Licensed pilots attending the NIKI Flight Academy work towards the qualifications needed to become a type-rated pilot – either as a co-pilot or captain. The course covers all the theoretical and practical aspects of the job.

Upon graduating from this broad-based and advanced programme, pilots will have a level of knowledge and ability that extends far beyond that of a conventionally trained airline pilot.

To date, over 50 pilots have completed courses at the NIKI Flight Academy and are now working with various airlines worldwide.

The NIKI Flight Academy has a team of 32 trainers. These highly-qualified NIKI pilots (SFI/TRI/TRE) are at hand to share their extensive flying experience with the trainees.


Courses

The following courses are available at the NIKI Flight Academy:

•Type rating
•Low visibility training
•Base training
•Line flying under supervision
•Upgrade
•SFI/TRI training
•Recurrent
•Checking

Courses are held in either Vienna or Berlin, depending on demand. State-of-the-art CAE maintenance and flight training devices (MFTDs), as well as two of Europe’s newest and most technologically advanced simulators (FFS Level D from CAE) are available at both locations.

Training lasts approximately four weeks depending on the courses selected. The costs are met by the trainee, and prices are available on request.
The NIKI Flight Academy is one of just a handful of type rating training organisations (TRTOs) that offer supervised base training and line flying. The same trainers who oversee the theoretical and simulator modules also provide hands-on flight support.

Base training and line flying are not available until after graduation from the NIKI Flight Academy.
