Important Travel Information 10th August 2006
Please note that security at all UK airports has been increased until further notice, and additional security measures have been put in place for all flights. Passengers should allow plenty of extra time for their journey to the airport, and check in as normal. Unfortunately the airline expects significant delays throughout the day and there are likely to be cancellations as a result of these extraordinary circumstances. In order to minimise delays bmibaby will be closing its check-in desks 45 minutes prior to each flight’s scheduled departure time. This is to ensure that all passengers have ample time to complete the enhanced security process.
Please note that no items of hand baggage can be carried on board any aircraft. All hand luggage will need to be checked in as hold luggage on all flights from UK airports.
Only the following essential items may be taken on board as hand luggage. Passengers may take through the airport security search point, in a single (ideally transparent) plastic carrier bag, only the following items. Nothing may be carried in pockets:
* Pocket-size wallets and pocket-size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags)
* Travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets)
* Prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (eg, diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic
* Spectacles and sunglasses, without cases
* Contact lens holders, without bottles of solution
* For those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags)
* Female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (eg tampons, pads, towels and wipes)
* Tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs
* Keys (but no electrical key fobs). All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be X-ray screened.
Pushchairs and walking aids must be X-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point.
Customers are advised not to bring to the airport items which are valuable or fragile in nature as these will have to be checked into the aircraft’s hold. The Airline cannot accept liability for such items and therefore customers still wishing to carry items such as laptops or cameras are advised to check that they are covered for loss or damage under their own personal travel insurance.
We are asking the travelling public to be patient and understanding and to cooperate fully with airport security staff and the police.
